New adventure

So the last week I have been in Jacksonville Fl house hunting. We heard back today that the bank accepted our offer!! We are really excited and can't wait for the next adventure in our little corner of the world to start.

I will be posting projects but not quite as often until we get settled.

Which brings me to another thought. I think I may have lost some of my followers during my month hiatus. So I think to bring back my readers I will be doing a giveaway next week, in hopes to bring them back. Now to think what to make and giveaway...maybe an owl hat or cow hat...We shall see.

Tagged

I was tagged by "A year with mom and dad" to answer questions. How fun!

So I have to answer her 8 questions than tag 8 blogs with questions of my choosing. I am always interested in the women/moms/dads behind the blogs, so why not.

1. What book did you last finish and did you like it? (great question, have to steal it)

I don't get much time to read, if I have free time I run to the craft room. I think the last book I read had to do with my serger. I still am having a hard time figuring it out!

2. What is your go-to meal to make for your family (you know, the favorite, easiest, etc).

I love to make meat balls, for subs. I put mine in the oven for 30 mins and then let them simmer in marinara all day. I usually make more than needed, then freeze for another meal. I don't measure when I cook, but the meals always turn out :)

meatballs:
98% fat free ground beef
Worcestershire sauce
Parmesan cheese
egg
Italian bread crumbs
Italian seasons
provolone cheese
marinara

3. What do you do on weekends, generally?
Weekends are no fun for me. Every one's favorite day is my dreaded day. I work part-time as a RN. I work night shift weekends so we don't have to put or children in day care. We still get to do family activities and have fun, I am just tired and look forward to Mondays.

4. What is your favorite website to visit, read, have fun on?
I was addicted to Swapmama's.com up till about a month ago. I have recently stopped swapping, it was hard for me because the mama's wanted most of my handmade items and not the items I had purchased and no longer use. I couldn't keep up and I stopped making items for my kids. I love the site and the idea, I might start back up but only offer items I no longer use.

5. Do you do crafts or have a hobby? Tell us about it!

I love love to craft! I started after my first daughter was born (now 11yrs). I started with crochet and it wasn't until 3 years ago that I really started to sew. In the past year I sew every chance I get. I love to see something and then try to make it. I usually like what I made better than the item I saw in the store anyway. I am not a designer so most of my items are things I have seen and would like but can't spend the money on. I am getting better about getting my ideas in my head to an actual product. The more I sew the more I learn. The blogging community has helped me in so many ways. All crafting I do is self taught so I am always willing and ready to learn.
6. What is your favorite thing to write on your blog? (Do you have a theme day, favorite post to share, favorite topic?)

I just love to share what I have made, sometimes how I made it and see what others have taken from my idea or if they have a better way to do it.

7. What do you do to de-stress?

I love water, so if I really get overwhelmed (I'm type A) I sit in the hot tub and enjoy quite time

8. Tell your readers something about yourself that we might be surprised to know!
I had my first daughter when I was only 19. Do to being a young mother I put off going to school to take care of her. As a job I drove a 72 passenger school bus. Driving the bus gave me the opportunity to bring her along with me and not rely on anyone else to raise her. When she started school so did I!

Now for the blogs I am tagging:

1.http://www.sofiasworld.org/
2. http://itsgoodfortheheart.blogspot.com/
3.http://womenwhodoitall.blogspot.com/
4.http://nancyscouture.blogspot.com/
5.http://samstermommy.blogspot.com/
6.http://homemadebyjill.blogspot.com/
7.http://ohsohappytogether.blogspot.com/
8.http://theadventuresofroryandjess.blogspot.com/

These are the blogs I get a lot of my inspiration from. I reference a lot of blogs however these were the first blogs I stumbled on when I started to blog hop.

I guess I need questions:

1. When did you start blogging?
2. Where do you get your inspiration from?
3. How do you find time to blog?
4. Have you ever gone to a blogger convention?
5. Do you craft? (who taught you to do your craft)
6. Do you have a favorite etsy store?
7. What is your favorite adult activity?
8. What is your favorite activity to do with your children?

I hope everyone enjoys. Thanks for the opportunity

birthday presents

On Tuesday my oldest daughter came home with a birthday invitation for today (Friday). Talk about not much time to get something together for the birthday girl.

I was a little nervous to make something for the girl. Not sure how she would take getting something homemade and not store bought. I don't want my daughter to be the talk of the party in a bad way ya know? But with not much time or funds that was the only option. I do believe my daughter is a little jealous and would like every single one of the hair accessories we made together last night.

I told her she could make her own later on, but we had to focus on the birthday girl right now. I love the way everything came out.

For the first one I used this tutorial from A Lemon Squeezy Home supper easy and fun

The second one I think is my daughter's favorite from Two Little Bugs Clothing Co.

This one I just did on my own. Nothing fancy I used fabric from my daughter's birthday outfit. With burning the the edges with a lighter and hot gluing on 2 faux pearls.

highchair cover

I am supper excited about this one. Mostly because I concord 2 of my fears.

When Austin was born I got a great highchair from my mother in-law. We never had any problems with it, maybe that was because my son never ate...he was even in the hospital as a newborn for failure to thrive. Then came Savannah who eats every chance she gets. And she insist on feeding herself. Then came the problems, the food was getting caught in all the little places and mold started to form. I just could not keep it clean. So for her birthday I got her a new chair. The wooden one made by stokke. I love it. I got it used in excellent condition.

When I got it home I wanted to make a cover and I was excited because Joann's by me has finally started to carry oil cloth. So I bought a yrd. and went to work. I just traced the seat and back. I added snaps, so I could take it off and then the hard part...I finally did button holes. I always did everything I could to get away from them. I was having such a hard time. But I got it, I got it! So exciting, it opens up a new world for me. So I managed to succeed with the oil cloth and button holes!

Where has the time gone?

Hi there...I'm so sorry it has been a long time since I have posted anything new. There are many many reasons...all so good.

First we went on vacation for about 2.5 weeks then right before we left for vacation we found out the my husband got a new job in....FL.!! I had joined a group swapmamas which was taking up all my time...I have since stopped.

So when we got back, we were and are still pretty busy with getting the house ready and on the market. I have been crafting but finding the extra time posting that's a challenge!

My husband left yesterday for FL while the kids and I stay back until we find a house so I am anticipating a lot of crafty nights after the kids go to bed.

I thought I would share some photos of things I have been working on in the past month.

A cupcake hat I made by myself with no pattern for a mama on swapmamas and then she didn't want it...so now it sits. I think it's cute but I'm moving to Florida so I don't think we need it

A cow hat made for a mama on swapmamas. I made this off a pictures she provided me (I have no idea where she got it). But it turned out pretty cute.

More Owl hat's for the mama's on swap mamas. Now that I am not doing swap mama's I hope to have some in the etsy shop. I have been using this pattern

This was for a mama on swapmamas. I used Jill's tutorial again the only thing I changed was I added a strip across the front for toys to hang.
For the same mama I made cloth wipes out of her left over fabric from the highchair. I am getting better with the serger. I have not figured out about going around corners yet.

We had a Mickey and Minni mouse birthday party to attend, where you were suppose to wear Minni and Mickey mouse. I got my idea from here I followed exactly for the ears however I did my own thing for the skirt and bloomers. I so love the bloomers. I traced a pair of shorts, but I made them longer and then I put trim around the edge and elastic so cute.

For the older kids we tie died the shirts in the back yard which the kids did them selves, then when that process was all done I used a bleach pen to put Mickey mouses head on it.
A Teepee I made for a little boy's birthday...look at all the toys in the background...no you know why it has taken me a long time to get ready to sell. I did use a pattern I just have to find the link...give me one day and I will reference it.

ok found it...here

Once again thank you for everyone hanging around
