Mario planning begins

So the next birthday this month is all about Mario...

Last year I neglected to have a big birthday bash for my son for several reason. We just found out we were moving from PA to FL, we were away on vacation for 3 weeks. These vacations were all with different family members, so we had 3 seperate little celebrations. I thought this would make him happy, hey, I got 3 partys. Nope, I was wrong! DEAD wrong. All year, when is my party? Why didn't I have a big party? Why didn't my friends come for cake and ice cream? Well I will never make that mistake again. He will always have a party!

He has been talking about a Mario brothers party for over 6 months now. And I am zoned in on the planning and getting things ready. This will be his first reall party with little friends over and I am nervous and excited for him.

I could not believe my eyes when I saw this free Mario pattern. It came out great. Well all except the eyes. I am working on that. I think I might buy some at the store, because I tried several times with no luck. I was going to stick him on the table as a surprise, but today my son started his first day of kindergarden. They were suppose to bring in something special to them and all he wanted was to bring in something Mario. But he really didn't have anything that qualified "as taking to school". So I gave it to him, he was so happy and so excited he couldn't believe he eyes. He is in bed sleeping with it right now. So easy to please at this age.

Sorry for now the pictures I have are with my phone. When I change out the eyes I will get more photo's

growth chart

I was so excited when I saw this growth chart at Topsy Turvy, I couldn't wait to get started. I was a little scared at first, but thought I should just go for it. Then I remembered, wood+Amy= bad results. But I just could not resist trying it.

So off to home depot I went to get my board. I ended up with a 6ftx1ft. My board was a little thicker because of price. I did choose to stain my board, which I do like the end results.

So the hard part, I didn't realize the hard part of placing the numbers and markings in the right spot until I started. With my husbands help I was able to get really close.

I used my silhouette to complete my growth chart. My spacings were 65inches, my lines were 35inches. My foot markings were 4inches, quarter markings were 3inches, and the last marks are 2inches. My husband worked really hard getting it exactly 1 foot of the floor. After I was done I should of ran a tape measure down the board to make sure my markings were right on. Oh well, you live and learn.

rainbow outfit

I was so looking for a reason to make this beauty from the moment Kelly posted. But never really had a reason. I mean she can't really run around and play in this beauty. But I guess every little girl needs a fancy dress in her closet?

I thought using the rainbow would be perfect for the back. It was surprisingly easy to put together and I love the way it turned out. I was going to do a birthday hat, however, I thought it might be to much. So we went with the pretty, pretty (as she likes to call them).

a rainbow party

My youngest turns 2 today. What a happy and sad day. We just wanted to have a simple get together. Especially since we don't know that many people. We have learned the value of friends. All in all the kids had a great time.

I spent the last week researching ideas for a rainbow party. And I just fell in love with so many ideas.

I used my silhouette for the invitations (which were only 4).

I loved the blog Hip Horray and had to have the tablecloth. I was a little disappointed about my judgment when cutting my fabric. I had the right calculation, but for some reason didn't cut them the right sized. That's why there is white under the purple and the red doesn't come to the top of the table. But I still love it.

The cake was from Whisk kid, it came out just perfect. I was a little nervouse I have never made a cake from scratch...it was pretty tasty. I chose to go with a different frosting from all recipes.com.

My mom bought these candles and they were just perfect

Oh these lollipops. I just find this funny. We moved to florida from Altoona Pa, about 9 months ago. I use to complain about shopping and always buying on line. Well as I was searching for these perfect lollipops guess where the number 1 company that came up on google?? Thats right Altoona! It was actually cheaper and quicker to have my father-in law to go to the store pick them up and ship them to me. but they were great.

I used the serger scraps to fill the bucket

I used Dana's method for my streamers from made

Once I saw this I knew I had to find a way. I did it at 9am and the next day at 4pm it is still hanging strong. It didn't take as long as I had expected, but then again I had help from my mother and father in-law. I did 8 of each color.

The rainbow jello, was a big hit in appearance, however didn't really get eaten to much.

I got the cups at the dollar store 5 for $1

I used my cupcake molds from last years party to make these crayons from our broken ones. great favors.

I put bags on the table and the kids put together a bag before they left. Choices of candy on the table, crayons, kazoo, rainbow coloring sheet, and of course a big lollipop. It was a lot for a little party but I think the kids have fun and are still enjoying the candy table.
